Multiple Teeth Lost by a Blow to the Face Can Often Be Restored by a Dental Implant Bridge

Posted .

Sometimes a blow to the face can hit with such force that it cracks, shatters or knocks out multiple teeth. Even after the initial trauma has passed, you will need to repair or restore the teeth to prevent future complications. One of the most effective methods for Hooper Family Dentistry’s dental team to restore the teeth is to mount a bridge on a pair of dental implants.

Our dentist will start by examining your mouth and taking a few X-rays. If the loss of the teeth also resulted in a loss of bone structure they might recommend that you receive a bone graft to help anchor the implants securely.

Receiving a dental implant is usually an outpatient procedure that requires you to be fully sedated. You will need to have someone drive you home and help you until you’re back on your feet.

During the procedure, two small incisions will be made in your gums to gain direct access to the underlying bone. A narrow channel is made in the bone, and a titanium abutment is screwed into place. Titanium is known to be biologically safe and in time it will fuse to the bone.

Once the abutment is integrated into your jaw, our Hooper Family Dentistry dentist can then start the process of installing the bridge to fully restore the missing teeth.

If you have lost multiple teeth in one part of your mouth, you should call our Hooper Family Dentistry team in Bossier City, Louisiana at 318-742-2272 to ask about restoring them with a dental implant bridge.
